Introduction

Everybody should have fast internet. And it should be free. We’re not quite there yet, but we’re getting closer every day!

We believe that computers should be easy to use. Our business is founded on the concept of ensuring that you can do what you need to do, without having to worry about the technical details – our geeks will not only assist you in getting connected, but will go out of their way to ensure that your computer does what you want it to, and that there are no nasty surprises along the way.

Wish Networks was founded in Stellenbosch in 2004. We currently employ 14 full-time staff members and offer fast, affordable and reliable hot-spot internet access – which means that you don’t need special hardware to connect to our network. We are also developing really fast and reliable connections for businesses at pricing you will have a hard time matching with anything similar.

Our team consists of businessmen and engineers with many years of experience in IT, and a passion to bring you the best services, hardware and advice. We have developed a set of rigorous tests for the hardware we use and have no preference for brand save that of performance, reliability and price. This gives us a competitive advantage above companies who employ “the latest and greatest” based solely on reseller agreements, hearsay and name dropping and the attached premium price tags.

We avoid long term (>1yr) commitments with our upstream providers. While we may pay a premium in the short term, this has allowed us to rapidly leverage improved services and eventual cost savings, as they become available, and enables us to pass the cost savings on to you.

Ask our advice, assistance or quotations for all your computing needs. If there is a better deal elsewhere, we will point you to it!

History and Vision

Constitution of South Africa

Chapter 2: Bill of Rights

Section 16. Freedom of expression 1. Everyone has the right to freedom of expression, which includes a. freedom of the press and other media; b. freedom to receive or impart information or ideas; c. freedom of artistic creativity; and d. academic freedom and freedom of scientific research. ... WOW! Is this not the heart and soul of our constitution? When last did you stop to consider the implications of the above? Assuming, like us, you believe that every person is fundamentally good, this should rightfully make you warm and fuzzy inside. (If not, perhaps you should educate yourself about what is happening in many countries in the world we live in.) This is not only a licence to not be oppressed - it is a licence to pursue your thoughts and convictions without restraint, provided that they are not violent. It is at the core of what it means to be a South African. This is a good thing - because we firmly believe that this is a licence for every South African citizen to educate themselves and pursue their dreams for the good of everyone - you see, it's quite simple - all bad things in the world are due to misunderstanding and the more ideas people are allowed to pursue, the sooner everybody will figure out a way to tolerate each other's ways. So - what good is freedom of expression to an oppressed, isolated, uneducated and/or unenlightened individual? What better way break down these barriers and reach out into the world, educate yourself, share your thoughts and communicate with your peers, than through a global network that facilitates just that? We firmly believe that affordable (or ideally free!) internet is critical to the empowerment of every individual in our country. Connectivity has the potential to accelerate and revolutionise everything from education to the economy. Fast and affordable internet access gives practical effect to Section 16 of Chapter 2 of the Bill of Rights in the Constitution of South Africa. Thats right! Our Constitution. Yours and mine. Something to rightfully be very proud of. The dream of being part of a network and service that has the potential to bring connectivity to every individual in South Africa, and to enable them to empower themselves with knowledge, and share that knowledge, is what drives us to improve our service every day - in a non-greedy and a sustainable manner. While this is easier said than done, with your critical feedback and encouragement, each day brings us closer to achieving our goals: to offer unrivaled service and to lay a foundation for- and facilitate service delivery and empowerment, especially in the education sector. We strive to prove that being humble, courteous, firm, accountable, trustworthy, honest, open minded, witty, mindful and that paying attention to every little detail - is changing world for the better every day.
